LUMA Shaftless Home Elevator

The LUMA is a shaftless home elevator that travels between two floors through a single opening in the floor. It needs no hoistway, pit or separate machine room, so it fits into an existing home with far less construction than a traditional residential elevator.

Its compact footprint lets it go almost anywhere in the house, from a living room corner to a closet, and its enclosed cab gives you a safe, comfortable ride between levels. For Central New York homeowners who want to stay in the home they love without relying on the stairs, the LUMA is a practical and attractive alternative to a full-size elevator.

Nationwide Lifts of Central New York installs and services the LUMA across Syracuse, Rochester, Utica and Binghamton. Request a quote or call us to schedule a free consultation.

Is a Shaftless Elevator Right for Your Home?

The LUMA suits two-story homes where a traditional elevator would mean too much construction. Because it needs only one opening in the floor, it can often be fitted where one room sits above another, such as a living room below a bedroom.

It is a good choice if you want to stay in your home for the long term, if the stairs are becoming difficult, or if you want an alternative to a stair lift that the whole household can use.

How LUMA Installation Works

  1. Free home visit. We look at where one room sits above another and measure the space.
  2. Written quote. You receive a clear price that covers the elevator and its installation.
  3. Preparation. The opening in the floor is formed and the electrical supply is put in place.
  4. Installation and handover. Our technicians install and test the elevator, then show you how to use it.

LUMA Compared With Other Options

A stair lift costs less and uses your existing staircase, but it carries one seated rider. If you need to reach three floors, or you need a larger cab for a wheelchair, one of our other home elevators may be a better fit. We will tell you which suits your home during a free visit. Our comparison of a home elevator and a stair lift explains the differences.

It was an excellent experience having Nationwide Lifts of Central NY to bring our elevators up to code. Lorrie was very easy to communicate with and efficient in setting up an appointment to have the elevators inspected and an another appointment to have them fixed. Andy and Alan were very knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy the work they were doing. They did a great job and were very personable to have around. Nationwide Lifts of Central NY is a very professional company and I would recommend them highly.

Continuation of review: The stair lift needed a minor adjustment and the company was very quick to respond! Tom the sales rep from the company came over and checked it out. He sent the info to the owner and he came within a day or two and resolved the problem! I'd rate the service 5 stars to date! April 2019. The salesman Tom was very good to work with. He answered many of my questions and worked with me with this project. He gave me references of other satisfied customers, he was knowledgable about the particular stair lift that we purchased, he did the best job of all the other companies that came to do an estimate! The owner of Nationwide installed the lift with his assistant and he was just an all around sincere and pleasant guy. He did a great job with the installation and he did it in about 1.5 hours! I purchased a used lift from them, it's in excellent condition, it's an indy pinnacle by Harmar. So far we are very happy with it. I will write another review in about 6 mo to a year to let people know how things are going overall. I chose a great company to work with and I highly recommend them! Steve R. Syracuse, NY
