Indy stair lifts and chair lifts, installed locally
When the stairs become hard to manage, a stair lift is the quickest way to make your whole home usable again. The chair carries you up and down in a comfortable seat, riding on a rail fixed to the stair treads.
There is no structural work and installation usually takes a few hours. When you are not using the lift, the seat folds away and the stairs stay clear for everyone else.
Nationwide Lifts of Central New York supplies and installs Indy stair lifts, also called chair lifts or stairlifts, in Syracuse and across Central New York. We offer two models. The compact Indy Pinnacle suits narrow staircases, and the heavy duty Indy XL suits riders who need a wider seat and a higher weight capacity.
The Indy Pinnacle is one of the most compact stair lifts available. It is built for homes where staircase space is limited.
The Pinnacle rail sits just 6 inches from the wall, so the lift takes up very little of the stairway. That makes it a good fit for the steep, narrow staircases found in many older Central New York homes, where a bulkier stair lift would leave too little room to walk past.
When the lift is not in use, the seat, arms and footrest fold up and the whole chair sits 11 inches from the wall. Family and visitors can carry on using the stairs as normal.
The Indy Pinnacle is a good choice when:
The Indy XL is a heavy duty stair lift for riders who need more room and more support. Its reinforced design carries up to 600 lbs.
| Indy Pinnacle | Indy XL | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Narrow staircases | Riders who need a wider seat and more support |
| Weight capacity | 350 lbs. | 600 lbs. |
| Standout feature | Folds to 11 inches from the wall | 25 inch swivel seat |
Choose the Indy Pinnacle if your staircase is narrow or you want the lift to take up as little space as possible. Choose the Indy XL if you need a wider seat or a higher weight capacity. If you are not sure, we will measure your stairs and recommend a model during a free home visit. Request a free stair lift quote.
A stair lift is the quickest and most affordable way to make a staircase safe. Nationwide Lifts of Central New York installs Indy stair lifts in homes throughout Syracuse, Rochester, Utica and Binghamton, usually in a single visit and without any changes to the structure of your home.
The rail is fixed to the stair treads, not the wall, and the seat, arms and footrest fold up so the stairs stay clear for everyone else. Battery power keeps the lift working during a power cut, and sensors stop the chair if anything is in its path.
The cost of a stair lift depends on the length of your staircase, the model you choose and options such as a folding rail. A straight staircase is the least expensive to equip. We give every customer a written quote after measuring, so you know the full price before you decide. Our guides to stair lift cost factors and Medicare coverage for stair lifts in New York explain what to expect.
A stair lift suits most people who can sit and transfer safely. If you use a wheelchair, or you want to carry more than one person between floors, a home elevator or the two-stop LUMA shaftless elevator may suit you better, and a wheelchair lift handles porch and entry steps. Read our comparison of a home elevator and a stair lift for more detail.
Most straight stair lifts are installed in a few hours. The rail attaches to the stair treads, so there is no structural work and very little disruption.
Stair lifts fit most staircases, including narrow ones. Stairs with a turn or a landing may need a different solution. We measure your stairs during a free visit and tell you what will work.
Yes. The lift runs on batteries that recharge while it is parked, so it keeps working for a number of trips when the power is out.
Original Medicare does not cover stair lifts. Some Medicare Advantage plans, Medicaid programs and veterans benefits may help. We can give you a written quote to share with your plan.
